Patrick O'Brien Faley for House District 17

My name is Patrick O’Brien Faley, I have lived right here in Colorado Springs since I was nine years old. I graduated from Coronado High School, then attended Pikes Peak State College for two years (Community College when I attended), did a little landscaping, and now I work at the Broadmoor Hotel and have been there for more then 10 years. I grew up in Pinion Valley, then I lived off of Airport and Murray for a few years, moved up to Stetson Hills for a little bit and now I've been in Stratmoor Hills for about four years. Colorado Springs is my home, I grew up here, met my wife here (who immigrated from the Czech Republic), I’m raising my children here, I am beyond being vested in Colorado - this community and this State is quite literally my family’s future. I am running as an independent specifically because I will not answer to outside interests, I will only be accountable to my community. The biggest problem we have in Colorado right now is unaffordability across all aspects of our day to day lives and it is directly caused by out of state influencers. We need to take back our representation and put it into the hands of the real hard working Colorado residents.

Affordability is a huge problem across the board, whether it be your groceries, rent or gas, but this state also lacks affordability for small businesses, independent contractors and young entrepreneurs. Bureaucracy and over regulation is becoming a huge problem for this state and you compound that with Colorado's new soft on crime policies, the cost of living is spiking. The only affordability problem our lawmakers are trying to tackle is housing, and their answer is to put affordable housing in unaffordable areas with no easy access to public transport, no zoning for low-income shopping like Dollar General, it's not near libraries or rec-facilities and to top that off actual Colorado residents are being beaten out for housing by people that are moving to Colorado. Our lawmakers kill jobs to try to save the environment, but they do not create new jobs in the process, that adds to the homeless epidemic and homelessness directly adds to our stream and water pollution problem. There are cleaner, more effective ways to generate power that create lots of jobs, than scarring our land and ruining our views for inefficient power generation. What we need in this state is jobs, a big project that needs to invest in modern freight trains with drone delivery and drone and animatronics manufacturing in general. Colorado is not a manufacturing state and with AI and animatronics being a direct threat to the jobs we do have in this state we need to get ahead of it and actually make Colorado the headquarters for all drone and animatronics manufacturing. In addition to being a manufacturing hub, Colorado needs to improve the quality of life for women. For starters all pregnant women need to be eligible for W.I.C. assistance, pregnant women should be entitled to handicap parking for nine months starting at the beginning of their second trimester, there should be no H.O.V. restrictions or tolls for a pregnant driver, and lastly child support needs to start at conception not birth.
